The wind machine
It's true: Ocracoke Island is a windy place. Yesterday was windy. The day before yesterday was windy, a warm, whistling, maddening wind. Today, on the other hand, is a candidate for lounging outside in a sunny spot. Daffodils are pushing up through the ground. Gardeners are starting to putter.
Without wind, there'd be no waves. Without waves (and tides) old shipwrecks wouldn't be exposed on the beach from time to time. I think I'll walk out to the beach to look at the waves. Windy or not, away I go.
